WEC Administrator Meagan Wolfe – False Statements to Wisconsin Legislature During Post-Election Oversight (WI)

Established Fact

Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe made at least three demonstrably false statements to the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections during post-election legislative oversight: (1) that she did not know about CTCL grants to the Zuckerberg 5 cities; (2) that Wisconsin cities did not have access to statewide WisVote or BadgerBooks data; and (3) that no API existed into the WisVote or BadgerBooks system. The OSC documented that each statement was directly contradicted by primary documentary evidence in WEC’s own possession. Wolfe’s statements, if made knowingly, constitute misconduct in public office under Wis. Stat. § 946.12(2) and potentially perjury under Wis. Stat. § 946.31 if made under oath.

Gableman Special Counsel Report documents Meagan Wolfe’s false statements to the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. See Gableman Report, pp. 12-18 (documenting Wolfe’s denials of CTCL grant knowledge and WisVote data access).

Wolfe stated she did not know about CTCL grants to the Zuckerberg 5 cities; the OSC documented that WEC records in WEC’s possession directly contradicted this statement. Similarly, her denial of WisVote/BadgerBooks API access was contradicted by WEC’s own technical documentation.

Wisconsin Stat. § 946.12(2) (misconduct in public office – felony); Wis. Stat. § 946.31 (perjury if statements were made under oath). Wolfe’s statements were made during legislative oversight hearings; whether they were made under oath determines applicability of perjury statute.

The Wisconsin Journal Sentinel fact-checked the impeachment articles against Wolfe and found some claims contained inaccuracies; specifically, impeachment articles conflated her role as WEC Administrator with Commissioner status, an important distinction. Wolfe’s false statements to the legislature, documented by Gableman Report, are separately supported.
