[Disputed Fact – As to pre-coordination with other actors; federal contacts unconfirmed] John Sullivan, operating under the alias “Jayden X” and affiliated with Insurgence USA and BLM-aligned networks, pre-advertised an “affinity group meet-up” at the Washington Monument at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2021 – before the Capitol breach commenced. Sullivan utilized Telegram to provide counterintelligence, disguised himself in Trump-supporter apparel, was physically present inside the Capitol during the breach, and filmed Ashli Babbitt’s shooting from point-blank range. Sullivan was subsequently charged with multiple offenses but disparate treatment relative to other January 6 defendants – he was initially released – raises questions about whether his federal contacts created protective treatment.
