WEC Administrator Citing Private Contract to Block Legislative Oversight (WI)

Established Fact

Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe refused to produce certain WEC records to the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections, asserting she was prohibited from doing so “by private contract.” This reliance on vendor or NGO NDAs as a barrier to compliance with statutory subpoena and open-records duties illustrates how illusory contracts can be weaponized to override legislative oversight and Wisconsin’s strong open-records law.
