[Established Fact – Coordination] Fifty-one former senior intelligence officials signed a public letter on October 19, 2020, characterizing the Hunter Biden laptop story – published by the New York Post – as bearing “the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” The New York Post’s Twitter account was locked. Facebook reduced distribution of the story. Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell subsequently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the letter was coordinated with the Biden campaign. The Intelligence Community Inspector General later confirmed the laptop was authentic. The coordinated suppression of an authenticated, election-relevant news story through a joint intelligence-community/platform operation – timed 16 days before the election – constitutes the most consequential single act of election-period information control in the investigative record.
