Permanent Deplatforming of the Sitting President and 70,000+ Accounts (US)

Established Fact

The federal censorship infrastructure, operating through CISA-EIP-platform coordination, succeeded in contributing to the permanent deplatforming of the sitting President of the United States on January 8, 2021 – two weeks before the end of his term – as well as the suspension of more than 70,000 accounts. EIP Jira tickets had repeatedly issued explicit directives to platforms regarding the President’s account, including EIP-668 (“we repeat our recommendation that this account be suspended for the duration of election day”) and EIP-673 (“suspending their ability to continue tweeting for 12 hours”). These directives establish documented federal agency involvement in the infrastructure that ultimately produced the suspension.
