EIP Demand to Suppress Election Observer Documentation – EIP-614 (PA)

Established Fact

EIP Director Alex Stamos personally emailed Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook demanding the suppression of posts by Republican official Harmeet Dhillon and others documenting alleged legal violations at Philadelphia-area polling locations (EIP-614). The EIP requested that platforms “at least label” the legal observation claims to diminish their visibility. The content at issue consisted of direct legal observations made by credentialed observers and a licensed attorney – content at the core of the First Amendment’s protection of election-related speech. Suppression reduced public access to contemporaneous accounts of polling place conduct while certification remained pending.
