COVID-19 Released from Lab in Wuhan, China Encouraged Mail-In Voting (China)

Disputed Fact

Multiple U.S. government investigations have concluded that SARS-CoV-2 most likely emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic’s December 2024 final report — the product of a two-year investigation — concluded that “COVID-19 most likely emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China” and that “a lab-related incident involving gain-of-function research is most likely the origin of COVID-19.” The Senate HELP Committee Minority Staff similarly concluded in October 2022 that “the COVID-19 pandemic was, more likely than not, the result of a research-related incident,” noting that the lack of transparency from the People’s Republic of China “prevents reaching a more definitive conclusion.” The Federal Bureau of Investigation assessed with moderate confidence, and the Central Intelligence Agency assessed with low confidence, that a laboratory origin is more likely than a natural one.
